Excellent Photos from Friday's Sled Run

Thanks so much to my good friend Robert for letting me post these here. It was so great to go out mushing with him and Kathy so much this year and to be able to see my team from this angle. To see more of Robert's wonderful photography visit his photo site at: www.flickr.com/photos/dr_ozda/

There is also a very neat passing sequence at his site of my team passing his. All photos were taken by him on the back of his sled holding his team steady in marginal snow conditions as we passed by. For those of you who have never been on the back of a dog sled this is incredibly hard to do... he is a very talented photographer!

My 12 dog team in a bunch with me in the middle trying to figure out which dogs go where.
Griffin was taken out of the team at this time but you can see him on the right wanting to be part of the 'ball-o-dogs'...

Notice where leader Juno is (the white dog)... she is supposed to be up way up front... a very troublesome tangle!

As you can see my labrador Buddy is not helping, probably trying to pull the team back even further towards the sled. I believe this tangle was formed out of jealousy... just moments before I was petting dogs in Roberts team!

Pups in wheel, Hermes and Boreas stay focused and on good behavior while the other adults keep their cool as I work through the gangline to line them back out again. Some dogs have their issues with one another but I believe it is through our free run training in the yard every evening and sticking to a firm set of behavior rules that allows the dogs to be in close quarters like this without fights or injuries.

Kathy's six dog team headed back to the truck

My 11 dog string with Griffin leading the way back to the parking area. He loves to lead the way home. That boy loves to get back to his straw bed in the truck after a hard days work...
