Made it through the night...

The dogs and I stayed downstairs so James could sleep and not be frustrated by dog after dog jumping up then off the bed. We both got a bit of quality sleep but I was having serious flashbacks to our cabin night in the White's. Click, click, click... click, click, click... every time some one got up to check things out, nails on the linoleum. Most were very calm and slept, over all it wasn't too tough of a night.

Since it was 50 degrees downstairs the pups all slept well without getting too overheated. I took out my Wiggy's bag from my sled and tried it out in the 'balmy' living room temps. What a mistake! It was WAY too warm... should have seen that one coming!

Calypso's leach type personality really showed through last night. Ive always known she was a love and my favorite thing to do is put her on her back and hug her like a teddy bear. She LOVES that. The boys do too but they are a bit large to do that comfortably for too long.

She started curling up at my chest cramping us on the couch, I had to get up for something so she moved to my feet and gradually stretched her way down my back and up to my head. I had to get up again for something else so she repositioned at my feet again and slept there for the rest of the night. It was wonderful to have her be so easy so I could focus more on the other boys who were getting up at all hours of the night.

The temperature right now is about -35 and should stay that way through the night if the forecast is correct. It may get back down to -40 or more but we will have to wait and see. For now its a HUGE relief to have all the dogs back outside and meat thawing for their heavily baited batch of water. I plan to water them up in a few hours and give them a nice big meal before tucking them into their dog house beds.

The only thing I cant decide is if its more efficient to let the dogs go out the door single file or open it wide so they can all streak out like a mob. The cold air gets in either way and when one goes they all go like a rushing river! Its so funny to see them run up and down the area in front of the house. They LOVE to kick up their heals even when its -50.

When they are inside Ive been leaving the dog yard gate open so they can streak in there if they want to. But no matter where they go they have been doing very well in not getting too close to the road or going too far down our driveway. They learned their boundary lessons as pups and are sticking to it well. Its been great cause Reba, Salmon and Ichabod are watching them and going where the pack goes so I dont have to worry about any one getting too close to the road.
