Woke up this morning to -50... ick! My office was trying to mimic the outside at +47. A bit of investigation by my husband showed that something is wrong with the valve. Good thing we have our back up portable oil heater. Ive never used one until last year when we had the same problem... after that I was totally sold on the unit.
The dogs are loaded still, Hera wanted to hold out really late yesterday and not load. She preferred to stay on Aquila's big log dog house and stick it out. This morning she looked very good but I had to put my foot down and load her even if its only for a few hours. Gemini decided to give in and loaded herself last night. Very nice of her to make it easy on me... of course the moose bone scraps helped convince her to go in! : )
I chopped up one of the moose hips we had left and gave a few pieces out. I hope that will relieve some boredom. If it climbs to -30 or above I will be able to drop them again... if it stays cold I may drop those who want to be out for an hour or so. I know a handful who will not want to be out at all... they are welcome to stay in for as long as they like.
My hands are starting to freeze so I better get into the house. Hopefully the oil heater will do its job and I can get some work done today. I have to have a minimum temp of +60 to do any fine art... typing is a bit easier! : )
