Foster Dog Don

Snow fell last night, again... but is melting quickly now. I have no idea when our spring is coming... I just wish the trails would dry up. These are great temps to get the dogs out on the rig but most of our training areas have mini ponds in them.

Don is settling in very well. He is a big love and I do mean BIG! Its rare to have large dogs show up at the shelter and its nice to have a large foster for a change. Spock is our largest dog tipping scales over 100lbs so I would assume Don is over 75, most likely pushing into the high 80's. He would make a fantastic freighting dog and I cant wait to see what his work ethic and ability is in team.

He was listed as a gee/haw leader in his paperwork and also that he fights with other males but we quickly ruled that out when Spock interacted with him yesterday. He was also roaming around the dog yard free for a few minutes after his arrival while I got his house set up. He bumped into a few of my boys (who were tied) but had little to no aggression towards them.

I think my guys were the ones to start any growling but Don really didn't want any of it... even now if I tell my guys to back off from playing too rough Don takes that close to heart and dives into his dog house. Strange behavior since he has done this more than once when I wasn't even facing his direction.

Calypso has displayed some silly behavior lately. She knows shes not supposed to bark or make excessive noise when I tell every one to settle. She has to get her energy out some how so she has taken to leaping straight up in the air!

This behavior has shown up before. When her grandmother (Aquila) was about her age she also did this...
