I put down a few pallets and boards to try to cover the mud and allow the water to seep under away from some of the worse areas. The ground is soft enough to dig down so Ive been trying to create trenches and use the extra dirt to help elevate areas around their dog houses.
I moved a few of them last night to completely dry areas but the change in living quarters didn't work for some of them. Howling continued for the few hours the rain was stopped so I had to move them back last night before bed just so they could feel some sense of peace even though their old areas aren't completely dry.
Remus' area is still looking the worse even with a few bags of shavings added last night it doesn't seem to help much. I would really like to see him in a new area but he is the one who hates change the most. He would rather stay wet than to move to a different area.
I hope he found some time to enjoy the bulk of the shavings I left out for him when the rain was stopped for those few hours last night. They really elevated a nice spot for him and if the rain hadn't come back they would have lasted but it appears the clouds are not ready to stop dropping just yet.
I can really tell which areas were focused on over the years with wood shavings and the ground smells sweet again showing me the shavings are doing their job very well and breaking down dog waste that was missed or buried.
Our dog yard expanded a few years ago and those new areas are showing serious signs of flooding. Fortunately the boarders who are here for a few weeks are very patient with the moving around and are grateful to create a new area on higher ground when I had to relocate a few of them.
Sun? We may have a quick break here... the office just brightened up a bit and the sun may have a change to come out today. At least it looks like we may get a tiny break in the rain for a few hours...
