50 Below and Holding

Im sitting here on the laptop since its too uncomfortable to be up in the office. We still have to keep the temps high up there to get the hot air circulating around the house. Its not perfect but its better than some have at this time. Ive been hearing the fire department go off down the street just about every time I go out to run the dogs around. House fires are common in winter and get even worse the colder it gets. Furnaces are put to the test and often times break down with such high use.

Its because of this fact that Im so grateful we have what we do. Our house has plenty of food, the dogs have a surplus of kibble just for this type of emergency, we dont have any where to go at the moment and all the pups can come inside to warm up, except for the few who prefer to stay outside.

I suppose Thanksgiving is the time for giving thanks but Ive never been one to be specific on the holidays. I believe every day is a good day to give a gift, every day a perfect time to be thankful and every day is an excellent time to make a new resolution.

So today we are celebrating Thanksgiving and when this weather breaks we will celebrate Christmas all over again. Not that we need to give each other lavish gifts but just the option of being able to get out of the house and buy dog food will be a wonderful gift for all.

Im sure we will be picking up a bag of biscuits for the dogs since Im dangerously low on those by rewarding the pups every time they come in from outside. A bag can last a really long time with one or two dogs coming in every day but with all these guys it just doesnt last.

Pictures will have to come later. Im on the laptop right now and its painfully slow. Im going to try and get James to take a picture of all the dogs eating tonight in the kitchen. They are being so good and well behaved even if they arent on their usual houses. Ive seen many of them push their bowls right next to another without grumbling. I am so incredibly impressed with them all.

Last night was also a success. Interesting how it didnt take them long to figure out our sleep schedule. I was able to sleep much better than on our first night. I get woken up early in the morning for their potty break and then again when the sun comes up (which is still late). When its cold like this my brain has a really hard time getting up but the pups are helping greatly with that!
