Ice Hotel

Scott and I headed out to the Ice Hotel yesterday for photos. The folks at the Chena Hot Springs Resort were wonderful, as always. After about 3 hours with the place all to ourselves we managed to gather enough stock to add some new flavor to their gift shop.

A lot of the old sculptures were there from my last shoot three or four years ago but they did have some new things too. One fun piece was an ice outhouse in one of the rooms complete with a felt cover for the seat and an ice waste catch bin. That was quite unexpected!

Unfortunately most of the shots we took wont be posted to the web since this is a private contract but if you want to see more, purchase cards or visit the Ice Hotel in person its worth the drive out to the Hot Springs. And when your there be sure to soak in the natural springs pool. Its heavenly!!

Hopefully we will see cold temperatures again shortly. Its almost 40+ here now and the snow is melting fast. Ive been able to knock out almost all of the dogs houses out of the snow and replace their straw with fresh dry stuff to prepare for the next cold snap but I do wish the cold would come back, not as extreme as it was but -20 would be nice!

The snow is sliding off the roof of our house now and since we have a two story it can be downright dangerous for any dogs walking around.

I think most of it has slogged off but I just about died when Ajax was out for his morning pee and heard the snow thump. Fortunately he was nowhere near the sloping part of the roof or it might have killed him! Usually the snow only comes off once a year so the margin of danger is slim to none but I wasn't expecting it to fall so early...
