Hard to say no...

This time of year is usually spent on the trail running the last traces of snow off the ground. Having a well controlled team allows us to run in all kinds of conditions as long as the dogs are happy and free of potential injury.

Ive always said that as long as my runner plastic has something to glide on we will be out there. Snow hook, brakes? What are those? : )

This year though its been different. Ive always trusted my gut (its never been wrong) and this time it tells me to stay home a bit more than I would like to. I don't believe its due to any trail hazards but more for our future and our eventual move. I feel deep within me the rules of my life changing for the better, and they are changing fast. If I am to be responsible and heed the call I have to listen to my gut.

Unfortunately my intuition says stay home, work and get our rental property secure so we can move it along. James is already seeing the winds of change picking up speed on his end. When there is a need a solution quickly follows and most times the solution is a lot better than what we had expected. I wont go into detail here, hard to believe that I like to keep some parts of my life private... that's so not me! Just know that everything that has happened has been wonderful and continues to unfold beyond what we ever believed to be possible...

One of those things was MacKenzies quick adoption... I didn't even have a chance to put her on the foster dogs page of our website! She went to a great home where she can work and lead her own small team of five to six dogs. Its the perfect setting for that little shy girl.

Shortly after she left we were able to pull another dog to fill her space but the one I was looking at was a bit 'attached'. She came in with her sister and the two were so bonded that I really couldn't break them apart. I'm a softy for family ties and these two delightful girls pulled on my heartstrings in seconds.

They arrived yesterday and are still settling in. Getting used to the controlled chaos of our kennel life always takes new dogs a bit of time but these girls should have it down shortly. I cant wait until they can run and play with the others. For now they are in 'quarantine' to allow them to settle for a week or so until we can gradually work on them into running loose with the others.

I will post more on these two later... though I don't think they will be here long. They are super sweet, intelligent and calm. All around good dogs whether for working or house pets.

Today is a work day here in the office and since we are winding down the season the pups are able to do their house rotations again. This way I can brush them at my leisure and they wont be nearly as hot with their undercoat falling out. Thani is the first to be spoiled! It is always a delight to have this gentle giant in the office...

The one thing I am getting excited about is four wheeler training already. There are a few fosters that need a bit more TLC to get them out of their shell and to determine what kind of home they should be in. The retired dogs also need their summer exercise and I am also looking forward to that.

In years past Ive been extremely sad to see the winter go but recently its been a delight to fully experience the changing of the season. I think the change came when I realized that the passing of winter doesn't have to be the passing of my best time with the dogs. Any time with them is the best time but interacting with them on the trail in winter has always been a major highlight. This summer I am looking forward to seeing the delight of warmth come back to our part of the state and finding extra excuse to work out in the yard. More insulated dog houses are on top of my to-do list.

I'm also excited to get out the kiddie pool... there is nothing more fun than seeing seeing them work up a sweat dashing around the yard, never missing a step, dashing around the bend for a quick splash in the pool, spraying everything around them (including me) with cool water, then off again!

Ah, the delights of summer...
