Another perfect run?

Is its possible to have two perfect runs back to back? I suppose so!

We headed out today for more prep training for the Whites trip. The sun was out and it was HOT... well, the temps were good (+13 when we left the house), but the sun made things very intense. I wanted to get the dogs harnessed up quick so we could get out of the intense rays. Every one was pleasantly quiet and conserving energy at hook up. I didn't have the team freak out until I pulled the leader hook... that was nice, we haven't had a calm take off like that in a long time.

I brought out all four pups this time. They all took turns riding and resting in the sled bag. Calypso didnt want to have much rest again and protested quite a bit every time she was bagged. Hermes handled it well and at the end Thani was settling in to the bag too. Boreas REALLY enjoyed his rides! He settled in quickly and enjoyed his breaks very much!

My original plan was to take some trails out in the open but since the sun looked like it was going to be trouble we rerouted. I didn't have an idea of the mileage with our new route but it didn't matter much. There were plenty of places we could detour if the dogs grew tired, the problem was the dogs didn't seem too tired!

When we headed into the forest the shade made all the difference. When we were close to the truck I hadn't realized the sun hiding behind the clouds until it peeked back out again blasting us with extra warmth.

In bagging puppies all along the way I made sure we had at least 50lbs of extra weight most of the time and that helped to slow them down but I didn't expect our run to be a 15 miler! I was hoping for a 12 but with a 15 that means they are only five miles off our White's mileage of 20. A very nice feeling... Everyone held up really well and we only had to stop a few times for quick breaks and once again to give out salmon snacks...

I am greatly impressed with all the babies, there are no words I can say that could explain how much these guys mean to me. A lot of people refer to their pets as their kids, Im no different. These guys really are my blood... as if they were born directly from my body. When I loose one the pain is great, the lessons and times lived with them eternally strong. I find deep maternal instincts within when I care for these young guys.

Seeing Boreas stretched out in the sled basket with myself driving him home, the rest of the dogs faithfully pulling the full load... its in those moments that I feel the most proud, I feel the most complete...
