Our max speed was 17mph! Crazy for a bunch of freight dogs! The total mileage was just over ten and all the pups stayed home.
When we got back I dropped the dogs really quick and took Thani and Boreas to run beside the snowmachine for a short trip. They both did great but Boreas is a bit unsure about following such a noisy machine. He kept up well and, after he got over his jitters, started showing signs of wanting to keep up with his brother who is showing signs of leadership already!
Thani LOVES to run!! He LOVES to be out front and he loves to go FAST!! I would never had expected that from such a big pup!
I'm going to try and get the pups some more free runs with the snowmachine to help limber them up and maybe get them out free running with the team some more before the snow is gone. It all depends on our training and where the main team is at. Gearing them up for the White's trip is going to be the first priority, anything after that will be play and taking advantage of the trails before its too warm.
I already have plans for the little pup team as soon as our trails are clear of snow. The four of them and a leader (most likely Juno) will be harnessed up in front of the four wheeler and we will tour the neighborhood while the babies show me what they can do. By the time next season rolls around we will have four newly trained sled dogs ready to work!
