Crash...

Every year I am constantly amazed at how much out of shape I am when the mushing season starts. Four wheeler runs are fine, somewhat of a work out and harnessing dogs is certainly an active task but being on a sled is waaaay different.

Unlike most mushers I only have one or two dogs I have to lead to the line, the rest stick around and come when called. I loose drop from the truck, they come when its time for harnessing and hooking into the line. I also don't have to load my dogs since my truck loads from the inside. But our sled run, even though short, was tiring... Kathy was driving the dogs most of the time while I stayed in the basket but I was still very spent when I got home. Gaea too...

It was her first run and experience on the trail. She did incredibly well and had one incident with the sled that was a good learning experience teaching her to steer clear. Its a good lesson to learn during this young age that will carry over well into her adulthood.

Chronos had his day inside since he couldn't come with us and every time he is in I am amazed at his gentleness and love for Gaea. He wanted so badly to play with her today but since she was so tired he gently tossed toys in her direction and nudged her until she made it clear all she wanted was sleep. After a few hours she was back on her feet, not 100% but well in play mode. Chronos was one happy camper!
