Everything was so perfect, not too sunny, no wind, dogs were perfect and our client was snug and warm in the sled after I let her use my heavyweight parka. She was a real trooper and was so tough... that's saying a LOT at 70 something years old! : )
Since the day was so beautiful I couldn't help but get them out again. This time we ran over on the Flood Control side where the trails are much tougher and harder going. The dogs were a bit confused that we were heading out again but they held up well.
The trail we took was packed down a little bit by snowmachine but was still tough going and with them having so much time off they were slowing down quite a bit. We took it easy, I helped by peddling on the back of the sled and we took lots of breaks. It also gave me an excuse to do a bit of leader change ups and worked with Ichabod, Reba, Juno and Hermes.
Juno was a bit frustrated about being put way back in the team but she still worked hard and did very well. Reba still doesn't want to lead all the time and slacks off just enough to get in a tangle. She did pretty well but I had to take her out before too long and put Ichabod up with Hermes.
Hopefully I can get them out again on Friday if I can get all this business stuff out of the way. Things are already picking up and tourist season isn't even in full swing yet! I have a feeling this summer is going to be extra busy... part of me is grateful for that while the other part wonders how well I'm going to hold up!
