Fortunately I have a great excuse tomorrow to finally get the dogs out. A dog sled ride client has made an appointment for our short 5-7 loop run and after that I should have enough day light to take them out again for a few more miles.
Then next week we have two more clients coming into town for the same trip. That will be nice to have another excuse but I do hope to fit in some more personal runs with the team in addition to that.
I'm not sure how we will do on miles through the rest of the season but I have to be comforted by the miles of trail we've already opened up. They all have done some beautiful work and it will be there next year... I just hope we can get as much out of the rest of the season as we can before I completely loose myself in work!
My apologies for those folks who I haven't had the chance to respond to yet. Its been so busy here but I hope things will slow down soon so I can get completely caught up...

For now most of our work can be seen at the Yukon Quest office in downtown Fairbanks and through our website on-line and through our catalog that is very easy to download as a PDF. We are also happy to send out a hard copy at your request.
I am happy to report that this years Yukon Quest race pin has come in (same design as the t-shirt) and it looks great!
We also have one husky hair hat left at the Quest store but are having trouble parting with our limited stock to get more in there. If your looking for a husky hair hat send an email to Cooper@LeadDogGraphics.com and I can send out photos of what I have on hand. Or visit us at the Farmers Market this year for a wider selection...
I am also pleased to report that my trapping article made it into Mushing magazine. I haven't received my issue yet to see if it had to be cut for length but I am very happy to see that the information is out there for those who may need it. I don't want another team to be like I was when I just started out, running the trails, totally unprepared and oblivious to the potential dangers there.
Ive heard that trapping activity is rapidly on the rise in Healy as well. Too many dangerous incidences have happened there and I hope the efforts put forth by the community to increase the rules and restrictions of where and when you can set traps will fall into place. Maybe these new restrictions can carry over to Fairbanks and other areas of the state as well.
And, for the record... I am not against trapping, even after my own bad experiences, I would like to see RESPONSIBLE trapping carried out and more importantly enforced. Most of my encounters have been by trappers who don't know what they are doing. The trails I have run for years that I share with another local trapper have been perfectly fine and very safe.
It is possible to share trails with dog teams, trappers, snowmachiners, etc... if we are wary of each others space and react respectively to everything around us...
