Four Wheeler Run - Finally Photos!!

Nita came out today to help run dogs and I had the extra bonus of bonding with two of her pups before hook up! My guys enjoyed the new company though her babies formed a group of their own while my guys did the same in their own separate click. In time I hope they will interact more and become more at ease but this is to be expected on their first visit. I was very impressed with how well my kids behaved. Mercury was the only minor trouble but that wasn't too much of a surprise. Hes so territorial of his mom!

Boreas was funny. The way he acts to new situations and strangers is almost the same way he acts in lead... he completely avoids any issue! He was good though but didn't seem to have much interest. It will be interesting how he develops over time. He may get over his insecurity of new things after a while but if not I am delighted to watch him learn and teach me a thing or two about how another being sees 'proper' boundaries. Lord knows I have quite a few of my own!

This run was rather eventful. Everything went well, we pushed the miles a bit more, ran two teams and got most of them out, I think Olive was the only one we didn't have time to run. On our second run I let every one loose, as I always do, only leading up those who I'm not sure I can trust off lead like the foster dogs or Hera. Ichabod has always been a peach but I made the mistake of firing up the four wheeler a bit too early so I could back it up into a comfortable spot.

As soon as he heard the motor he was off like the shot! Flew down the driveway with Boreas, Hermes and Calypso fast on his heals!! The pups were fine and I didn't worry about them coming back but Ichabod couldn't wait to go and he didn't care who was with him. He also didn't care that he crossed the road right in front of an Animal Control Officer!!

Fortunately we have a good reputation with Animal Control and I thought it was quite comical to pass by him, after all the dogs were collected and on the line, later down the road in our training. He must have seen those harnessed dogs take off out of our driveway and shook his head. Darn woman out training again with those crazy puppies!

Ichabod did give me a scare though, he took off down the street all the way to the corner, came back when he heard me calling, then took an immediate turn down someones drive way and through the woods. I had to turn back, with the pups following close behind, to get my Jeep and zip around to the other road when here comes Ichabod running back down the driveway like his harness was on fire and ready to go! After that was over we hooked everyone up and took off in a much more orderly fashion...

Nita was able to get photos and video today so I finally have something to share. We are both going to make a point of bringing out the camera more often to do video and photos. There should be much more to see over the next few weeks.
