I got some good pictures this time and Brian got a nice video of hook up. I am uploaded the video now but I will have to share the photos later when I have more time...
Most people don't believe me when I say my guys are well behaved, or they don't believe that their team can be like that, but my team is living proof. It just takes practice and training. This fall training stuff is ideal for passing loose dogs and working out the kinks of behavior with the advantage of a smaller team.
In this video you can see how most of the dogs are extremely well behaved but I still have to work out some behavior things with Remus and Thani who are getting a bit more excited the more miles they have on them. All the dogs are loose, come easily to the line when called and Gaea is getting better about being quiet if shes up front holding the line with Juno. Gaea is only a year old now and doing extremely well!
This is our first video pass at showing what its like at hook up with many more takes later on to help show the ins and outs of dog driving and pointing out a few tips that have helped me over the years, calmness being the highest form of training as you can see in this video. I didn't used to be this relaxed but the dogs have taught me incredible amounts of patience over the years!
You will have to excuse the screaming malamute in the background. That is Sasha (our newest shelter foster) and she was quite anxious to go! If you put the your sound on mute you wont miss any dialogue in the clip... there is no tie out for the leaders, I prefer to let them to teach themselves how to line out over time even the ones further back in the team.
