Recovery and Moose Burger

Calypso is still under the desk at my feet milking her recovery time as much as she can before moving back outside. I have to admit, I'm milking it as well and when she feels well enough to go back outside it will be very different not having her always beside me.

Its times like these that I wish all the dogs could live inside with us but the chaos of doing so wouldn't allow a moments free time to work.

Calypso sleeps under the desk, Ajax beside her, Juno on the office couch and Gaea and Buddy elsewhere in the house sleeping as well... its a nice easy peace that frees me up to work throughout the day without interruption.

Now that winter is creeping in Ive had to focus my attention on specific winter chores, stuffing straw into houses, cooking up moose meat/bacon fat for trail snacks and stringing up the last of our christmas lights in the dog yard.

I wish I could have gotten a better shot of the soft light back in there but my camera didn't capture it so well. The light was too low but when the snow comes I might be able to get better reflection without the flash.

If you picture what comes to mind when you think of a fairy garden you can understand what it looks like. A warm ghostly space among the old growth spruce trees and when the dogs pass through they are back lit in the most beautiful way. It very much describes the meaning of our new kennel name 'Where Spirits Walk'.

Spock would be so proud...
