Another busy weekend...

James and I both were swept away this weekend down in Talkeetna. We officially walked the property, checked the view, the land, the location and we are totally convinced that we have found the right place. I will let on more about where the land is and other details as soon as the papers are signed. In the meantime our rental continues on its own paper trail as we sit back and let that take care of itself.

This trip was magical, as each one has been. As we were leaving Fairbanks we left under a cloudy rainy sky wondering how it would be when we arrived further south. As we traveled down the highway the clouds literally parted and welcomed us in once again.

We were offered a decent view on Saturday but the gods really pulled out all the stops for us on Sunday. We were able to get a great idea of what Denali would look like from our new home and it really blew us away, it was far larger than we ever thought possible. Of course the view will depend on cloud cover and how well the sun is out on any given day but Sunday gave us a really nice idea of what we can expect on those perfect weather days.

James walks through the massive trees on the property. In all the acreage there were only about five spruce trees where we wanted our house to sit, the rest was all this gorgeous birch.

I try hugging one of the bigger trees to give it some scale. These are pretty big for birch!

Denali as seen at the lowest point of the property...

... and Denali at ground level of where our home will be!!

This was taken on the highway to get a good idea of the view. There is a natural clearing on the property but we will have to cut down a few trees to get to see the mountain this clearly. Keep in mind this is at ground level, our cabin will be two story and elevated a bit from the ground so the mountain is bound to be bigger still!

High bush cranberry all over the property. There is also a very large patch of blueberries, low bush cranberries and rosehips on the property.

There are so many things James and I have talked about over the weekend and on the drive back home. We have so many exciting plans and I cant wait to share them with you as the time draws closer to each idea becoming a reality.

Now, I must get back to work... taking a weekend away from the office requires quite a bit of catching up now that we are back at home...
