If I had a million dollars...

... I wouldn't want it. A million extra hours? Now we can talk...

Such are my thoughts lately. Too much on my plate at the moment and trying to keep a level head with it all and not let anything get too terribly tangled. Much of what is going on right now is in the works and I will share more as the time draws near for a full reveal but I can talk a bit about our property ventures, the little details on most of it is going to be a bit hushed for now until things become more solid.

So far the last we heard on our rental is that another inspection was carried out this weekend and a few more will be performed very soon. All necessary for our buyers loan to pass and for her to be secure that she is buying a solid place to live. James and I are not worried in the slightest that everything will go through perfectly. That little place is a real gem and solid as a rock.

We are leaving the paperwork and all the inspection details up to our realtor Lori Peterson (Century 21) and she continues to do a fantastic job for us. As with any realtor she will take her commission when the deal is done and James and I are more than happy with this arrangement since it takes so much worry and hassle off our hands. When we are ready to sell our main house, when we are fully settled in Talkeetna, we will be looking Lori's services up again.

Not too much dog running going on here, though I managed to sneak out with six dogs yesterday morning before my time ran out and I had to get back on schedule. Every one did fine with my only complaint that I need to have a bit more time to get them out again. Soon, very soon...

This last weekend James and I headed to Valdez to fill our freezer full of silver salmon to carry us through the winter. The dogs will get a portion of that but we were only able to stay a few days and get enough for us. Our good friend Nancy promised that she will keep saving kitchen left overs for the dogs though so we are sure to have more bacon fat, pastrami, roast beef and what ever else is on their menu for the team's tasty trail snacks this winter.

James agreed to take both Juno and Gaea down fishing, Ajax went too of course. Gaea made sure her daddy knew how much she loved him and helped him drive most of the way (as seen in the top photos). We didn't get to stay as long as we planned but it was enough to bring home 14 salmon and have a nice salmon dinner on one of our overnights.

I never thought I would be as comfortable with camper life as I have become but I'm really delighting in the ability to cook on the road and keep a level of comfort to allow decent sleep and keep my mind clear so I can enjoy the rest of the vacation. Our camper is just the right size, not to small, not too big, and the puppies really enjoy keeping the luxuries of home.

Along with juggling my regular work Ive tried to squeeze in a few winter building projects before the snow hits. Of the three things I set out to build I have only one that hasn't been started. The chickens have their two coups build, just one more to go, and Hermes has his insulated house started that I should be able to wrap up with a days worth of work. Fitting in that extra day is going to be tough but I'm sure I will manage to get it done. The dog truck has yet to be worked on but I hope to utilize the big shop and take advantage of the space there even after winter comes.

And, I got tired of messing with the big dog truck gate on the dog yard every day so I threw up a smaller 'man/dog door' that is making getting in and out of there soooo much easier. Eli, our latest shelter rescue, has tested the big door extensively but with this new little one shes much more willing to give up trying to find a way out.

Last but not least, the other big news is that we took in a malamute rescue a few weeks ago and we are thinking she might stay with us permanently. James fell in love with her and even though I'm not sure she will be able to keep up with our team, she does make a great photo-op dog that tourists will delight in seeing and taking photos with. This will be nice option when we are settled in Talkeetna with the gift shop and doing tours.

Of course we delight in her company as well and James enjoys greeting her on his way to work since shes permenantly tethered to our porch and not out in the dog yard. Shes spoiled already!

So even though she may not be a team dog we are giving her a job with Chronos during our evening walks where she pulls a tire and spares James and I from getting our arms pulled out of our sockets. Apparently shes done weight pulls in the past so shes pretty used to the idea already. Chronos doesnt pull any weight of course, but he really delights in getting the extra treat in place of not being able to run with the team.
