Cold Climate

Was hoping to get the team out today but the temperature kept dropping. Seemed like every time I checked it had dropped a degree. Its tough to predict what the weather is going to do this time of year and there is a real possibility of finding ourselves out in the middle of nowhere with temperatures in the extremes.

For the last few days it seemed that everywhere else has been colder than it was here which is odd for North Pole. But I guess its caught up with us... should reach -40 by tomorrow, its about -37 right now.

The dogs are looking very good and enjoyed their dinner of kibble, tripe snacks (stinky!) and water heavily baited with poultry fat and salmon. Everyone loved it... and now I can go to sleep with the wonderful feeling that Hermes has his nice insulated dog house (that he loves to sleep in most of the day) and that everyone has a belly full of good food, houses full of straw and nice hot water loaded with fat to stoke their little furnaces to keep warm.

Chronos also has his straw cart that he loves! He wont sleep in his house if its near by... and I didn't see any reason for him to be hooked up to his house since hes always so sweet.

So now he has full run of the kennel! First Griffin, now Chronos... are we advancing to a free run kennel 24/7? Maybe, it certainly will be a consideration once we get to Talkeetna. I am certainly planning to have a few play pens built there off of the main yard. Lots and lots of plans...

As long as the cold stays Nita and I will be focusing our work on the dog trailer and doing our best to get that wrapped up. The walls are done, the ceiling over half way complete and we just started on the framework for the bottom boxes. There are many ideas and neat features we are building into this project. We hope to share this with you all very soon!

Here are a few photos from one of our runs that Ive been too busy to put up here. Check out our Facebook page for more (click on the link to the right of your screen)...
