We hauled in our first load of shavings to help battle the moisture. Its working well but the dogs may have to wait some time before taking advantage of a nice leisurely stretch in a dry pile of shavings. For now most of it is being used to suck up the water... it wont be long before the water is completely gone and they can have soft beds inside and outside of their houses.
Shedding has begun... nightly chores include extra clean up of waste hidden in the snow as well as brushing of the dogs who are dropping their coats early. Its very nice that they all don't drop their fur at the same time... though those who aren't ready to shed are pretty jealous of those who get the benefits of the brush.
All the dogs are enjoying extra time off to run around the yard. Spirits are high and everyone is getting along nicely. For the first time since the pups were born I feel as though I can relax and not worry about pups getting hurt or the adults not accepting them. The babies are old enough now to know their place in the main hierarchy. My only concern is to make sure we don't start having sibling rivalries but for now everyone is very content to play and welcome in the warmer weather...
