I just checked our distance on Google Earth, nine miles! Yikes! I took that trail just because the trees are so close and I could snub off the team as an extra safety if they wanted to pull the hook. But I really didn't want to take them nine miles so early in the season.
Oh well, I guess I underestimate how well our four wheeler runs have been, even though they have been short, or how their excited dashes around the yard during free time must be keeping them in shape. Reba and Salmon also have been working at Kantishna all summer so I'm sure that helped too. They really didn't seem tired at all when we came back.
Sled was also fully loaded with some heavy gear. Not sure how full it was but I had to take some stuff out to load it in the back of the truck. I'm planning on adding more gear into it later on but with the weight in it now the dogs hardly seem to notice.
