More Work Days

This winter has spoiled me so much. Ive solidly stuck to my schedule of running the team three days a week and with their help we have expanded our training area by leaps and bounds.

Our last run was Wednesday and even though I so desperately wanted to get out today the holiday show this weekend commanded a lot of my attention. Normally I can work late nights to catch up on work or take a weekend day to get more done but when I have to work around someone else's hourly schedule, something that doesn't happen often, its very binding.

Of course I miss the fun of being on the trails but the biggest thing I miss the most is just being with the kids. Its so hard to give up a nights worth of free time with them while I do regular chores around the kennel or just sit and be lovingly mauled by them. Most of my kennel chores may seem like work to the average person but to me its an excuse to 'get out there' and be in the moment with them, how ever that moment may be.

And while I know I have to attend shows like these to be true to the business that supports me and my kids its still hard. I miss them so much already...

Our last run was full of ups and downs but on the way back the full moon slipped out of a patchy clouded sky and shone down on us washing all the negativity away.

This negativity had nothing to do with the dogs but was a result of traps yet again. This year we have been forging new trails and breaking new ground to avoid those horrible things but they seemed to have caught up with us once again... or more correctly caught up with me since I was the one to step into it this time.

I wont go into detail about the incident, I dont want to get upset all over again, but if your a trapper or know of any trappers PLEASE encourage ALL trapping activity to be OFF the trails, at LEAST by a few feet! This one was barely six inches off the trail...

And PLEASE label your trap lines!!!

Besides the trap encounter the run was a great success. We broke through more of our new trail and I believe found another access point we could break through to make a nice training loop. It seems that this area is only the beginning as there are many possibilities out there to break new ground.
