Our trip took us down a trail a few miles off of the regular groomed stuff so the whole team got to break trail right away. They did very well with their speed only slacking off a tiny bit from last time when they were really flying through the powder. This time they ran more like I would expect a team would breaking trail with a heavy sled.
And since we were breaking trail Thani had the chance to get plugged in right away and help out. These latest runs hes been loose for a large part of the time until we really need his bulk. Im sure he delights in the freedom but putting him in so early didnt seem to phase him in the least. He set right to work and continued the whole way.

This is quite comical to me since I really didnt expect such loyal behavior from him. He is the most active out of all the pups and hes only had a handful of experiences that would cause him to be worried about me not being back there. It makes me wonder just how much genetics has to do with his behavior.
Griffin, his father, wont pass me if hes not on my team. He will follow me until the cows come home but asking him to pass me up in another team and 'leave' me behind... no way! Hes a mommas boy through and through. I can see this trait clearly come through in both Boreas and Hermes. Im sure Thani has it too but he hasnt had as much of a chance to prove it running loose along side the team most of the time.
Hopefully another day of rest (and desk work) will help me heal the rest of the way so we can get out again tomorrow. What a better way to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday, being extremely thankful for my team, the trails and great health that all the furry ones have had throughout this season.
