Interesting how time flys by. Just the other day I was wondering how long we have lived here in our wonderful house with an even more wonderful dog yard. I was reminiscing on the few other places we have been and how far we have come. What an amazing journey, even though it seems to speed by like the wind...
The leaves are changing on the trees, its getting much colder in the morning and the dogs are getting quite anxious to get back to work. A lot of my art is out in the public and doing well while the Riverboat Discovery and the Yukon Quest are wrapping up on their bus loads of tourists. I have a few more shows to do with the tourists as well but am looking forward to getting back on my winter schedule and getting more of my personal time back. I cant tell you how many people Ive talked to this year, its most likely well into the thousands.
And next week we welcome our pups home from their summer camp at Kantishna. It will be good to have Salmon, Reba, Polar and Coyote home again. We have many runs ahead of us with our fall training and I know they all will want to be a part of where we are headed. Some wont be able to go the full distance but we are doing our best to fit every one in where we can so they all can work as much as their aging bodies will allow.
Of course the young ones wont have any problem with our work schedule but as the years pass we are having more and more older dogs to work into the team. Just another aspect of mushing that keeps us on our toes and keeps our sport interesting!! :)
