Fortunately most of the outside stuff is done, just have the log cabins to work on and finish in the entry way to the kennel before the snow falls. Everything else is either done or can be done inside and moved outside once its complete. But at +20 this morning its still very comfortable to work out in my light weight jacket and gloves, if I get chilled it just encourages me to move faster and warm up!!
It seems like the wind has stopped blowing for today, or will be at least a light breeze. These past few days its been a terrible wind storm and very hard to work in. If it were hotter out the wind wouldn't be so bad but its adding insult to injury working out in the cold AND the wind. Its testing the limits of all our patience. But, as all things do, the wind came to pass and we will have a much better working day today.
I'm still behind on a LOT of office stuff since Ive had to work so much outside. My mind is shifting to other desires like slowing down a bit or just having the time to set up foundation material before jumping into everything I'm working on 110% like I have been doing. At the moment its just a thought so I am waiting to see where that thought goes.
There have been so many changes this summer and so many things headed into the right direction for us that it really makes me believe that the sky is the limit and that ANYTHING is possible. Its kind of like how I create my art... I sit in front of a blank canvas, slightly envisioning what I want to create, then I let it all go and just draw. What it will be, good or bad, doesn't matter at the time I'm in that zone. What the final outcome is, and my over all happiness with it, is all that matters in the end.
While we didn't get the driveway put into the new property this year things are in the works for it to happen next year. It is almost set in stone at this point but we will see where that goes as well. I don't like pressure so that is one of those things I'm really focusing on, having a pressure free lifestyle. So far its coming together nicely and it feels really good...
Ive been having LOTS of dreams about the property... that is always good and a sure sign of my creativity at work. James is right on board with me on this and it is absolutely wonderful to have us going 100% in the same direction. To be honest, our marriage has never been this good in all the years we've been together (going on 11 now). What is amazing to me is that most couples fall apart, well, James and I have fallen together and are tighter than we have ever been. I can finish his sentences and he reads my mind more times than I like to admit. Try planning a surprise for a person like that! It ain't happenin'!
The kennel news updates are that we decided to adopt Polar from SCL (we are very excited about this!), she has been far too dear to us to let her move on to another home and we know her mushing skills will come in handy for our work this winter. The back pens are up and operational (thanks so much to James L and Leah for helping with these!). Reba and Salmon will soon be joined by Stripe in their large free run area.
We have another fenced pen next to Reba and Salmon's place, it is all positioned so the doors can be opened and all the foster dogs can play together. This is a HUGE benefit to all since we really needed to have two play groups operational to cut down on the stress of foster dogs coming and going within the main dog yard since our guys had to mentally readjust their kennel standing every time we welcomed a new comer.
The new dog truck is finally here and we have been driving it around like crazy!! Its been VERY fun to break in and get to know this new rig. The dog boxes are not on it yet but all the extra driving is great so we can tell if there are any bugs left to work out before winter comes.
Well that's about it from here... I cant stay on this blog too long or the days work wont get done so I will sign off for now. Just maybe our next update and photos will have snow in them!! :)
Reba welcomes you to her new pen (pallet is in place for now until the new chain link gate arrives) while Salmon peeks from behind.
Griffin hangs around behind Salmon's house as she comes around the front checking out her new area. The chain link wall is part of the original 'heat pen' where the three BIG girls (Lykos, Hera and Pandora) now share the area.
A view from Reba's 'pallet door' back down the run of their free run enclosure. The large pen made up of chain link panels (generously on loan from James L) currently house Eli and Kenai (our new foster dog) but will most likely be the home of other dogs as we shuffle everyone around into their permanent winter spots.
